The Paranormal

This week I saw the highly anticipated Paranormal Activity 3. I saw it a day after its release to avoid all the rush and lines. The movie was alright, with a couple heart stoppers and scary moments. The thing I liked the best about the movie is that it kept your adrenaline pumping and it kept your eyes glued to the screen because you always wanted what was going to happen next. At a split second anything crazy or “paranormal” could’ve happened. Overall I had a good time watching the movie and would recommend it to anyone that wants a good adrenaline rush. But the question that stuck with me after the movie was, “Is there really paranormal things out there?”
After the movie I left the theatre with an open mind about ghosts and paranormal things. Most of the things in the movie were a little over the top such as the scene when the ghost/spirit “Toby” drags a little girl across her entire bedroom. Actually all the paranormal things in the movie were over the top. But this made me think if there really are spirits and ghosts. Many people claim to come in contact with ghosts and some even say that they can talk and communicate to them. In my opinion I’m on the side that there are ghosts. But I do not believe that they can come in physical contact with people like shown in the movie Paranormal Activity 3. I myself have never came in contact with a ghost but I know of so many people who claimed that they have. It would be unfair to call them all liars or crazy people because some people have dedicated their life to finding out about these ghosts.  Many of my friends have their stories of them coming in contact with ghosts and the one thing that they all have in common is that they all say they feel a breeze of cold air. Not only my friends but the breeze of cold air is a universal feeling of coming in contact with a ghost.
Not only do I think that the movie was over the top with ghost encounters but I also think that shows such as GhostBusters  are a little irrational when it comes to ghost. I feel like they edit their films to mock that of a ghost encounters. But what I do believe in those shows are all the high tech equipment that they have such as the temperature reader they have. The temperature reader reads sudden changes in temperatures and in some episodes it shows cool spots where the temperature has dropped. They believe that these cold spots are where ghosts are present. So overall I think majority of the ghost stories are BS and over exaggerated. But I do believe in talking to ghosts. I think they are out there somewhere due to all the people who claim to come in contact with them. So what your opinion on The Paranormal?

The Birds that cant Fly

If you have been watching the NFL lately you know how unpredictable the league is this year. There have been many upsets and teams that have had major success. As expected, the “glorified” “untouchable” defending Super Bowl champs the GreenBay Packers are undefeated. As much as I hate to say it they look like the best team in the NFL as of right now, having very few close games besides week one when they faced the Saints powerhouse offense behind Drew Brees. The big stories of the first 4 weeks were the Bills and Lions. Both led by relatively young quarterbacks started out 4-0. The Detroit Lions are known for in the past few years for being the “easy win” for the opposing teams. Another underdog, the Buffalo Bills, started out 4-0, led by a literally genius quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, that attended Harvard University.
So besides the fact of theses untalented, unreal or some may say “lucky” teams that have been winning games, My main concern is the Philadelphia Eagles. Being an Eagles fan when making this statement I can probably speak for the many other fans out there but I am extremely disappointed in the Eagles this year. There is no other way to put how I feel about them other than disappointed. After the NFL lock out I was ecstatic to hear of the Eagles picking up players and making moves in the free agency market. They picked up the prize gem in the free agent market, Nhamdi Asgmough, who is considered one of the best secondary players in the NFL. Also a Heisman winning quarterback in Vince Young and an extremely versatile runningback in Ronnie Brown who was the face of the Miami Dolphins franchise. Also, in the draft, they drafted the brother of Clay Matthews, Casey Matthews. I got all hyped for Casey Matthews because I figured if he was anything like his brother, then the Eagles would have a solid linebacker core. But I was dead wrong. The Eagles are now 1-3. I do not understand how Andy Reid has all of this talent on one team and does not know how to put it together. Vince Young even considered the Eagles to be a “Dream Team.” Right now the Eagles are far from that. They have the most athletic quarterback in the NFL and arguably the fastest receiver in the NFL, Desean Jackson. The receiving core of the Eagles filled with Jackson, Maclin and Avant is a pretty solid group of wide receivers. The backup runningback, Ronnie Brown, would start on half of the teams in the NFL. So my question is….WHY ARE THE EAGLES NOT WINNING GAMES? This has left me frustrated and angry to a point where I cannot enjoy the rest of my Sunday because of the ridiculousness of the Eagles play. They just keep losing to teams that are not better than them. I can go on for days about other negative things I have to say about the Eagles but for now I will hold that off. On a positive note I can say that I have been impressed with the way Jason Babin has played and also Trent Cole. For now, they are the only two players that actually look ready to go to work on Sundays.

Top QBs in the NFL

1) Aaron Rodgers- As much as I hate to put Rodgers at 1 I’m going to have to. I put him at number 1 because not only is he a stat sheet filler, but he is very important to his team. Being an heir to an all-time great, Brett Farve, Rodgers quickly made the fans forgot about their loss with a SuperBowl win in the 2010-2011 season.

2) Tom Brady- I put Tom Brady at two because not only is he important to his team but he is very consistent. Last year he led the league in touchdown passes and had the highest QB ration of 111. This season he’s also off to a hot start leading the league in passing yards. Although his stats are better than Aaron Rodgers I could not put him at number 1 because he did not get the job done and lead his team to a SuperBowl win.

3) Michael Vick- Vick is a headache for defensive coordinators. He is the most versatile QB in the league. While he has worked on his game in the pocket, he is also still very dangerous out the pocket. Vick can scramble and create his own time when he drops back to pass making it very hard for corners to cover their receivers. He is also notorious for making his own plays. Vick also had one of the fewest interceptions thrown last season only throwing 6 as compared to Tom Brady throwing 4 which was the least interceptions thrown in the NFL.

4) Ben Roethlisberger- Big Ben is at 4 because he is leading his team to multiple SuperBowls. Year after year Big Ben is carrying his team deep into the playoffs and getting the job done. Also he makes plays with the very few offensive weapons he has.

5) Drew Brees- Brees is at number 4 because of what he did in New Orleans. Brees put his team back on the map by winning a SuperBowl and giving hope to the city of New Orleans. While he is a little trigger happy, throwing 22 interceptions last season, he is very good at finding open receivers and allowing his receivers to make plays.

6) Peyton Manning- It may be a surprise to see Peyton down at 6, but right now he is not doing anything for his team. But on the other hand it shows how important he is to his team. Peyton has had neck surgeries and has missed games and practices and the Colts are looking terrible without him. The failures of the Colts show how important Peyton is to his team.

7) Matt Ryan- Ryan is at 7 because of his lack of stats this year. Last year he started off much better and looked like a playoff quarterback. He is surrounded by a high-powered offense and I do not feel like he is using all the weapons he has. The Falcons have one of the best receivers in the NFL in Roddy White, and an exciting rookie in Julio Jones and so far, Ryan is not getting  them the ball in the end zone.

8) Philip Rivers- I put rivers at 8 because he is just not producing any stats this year. He has started off very slow throwing 4 touchdowns while throwing 6 interceptions this year. In my opinion I do not think Rivers is consistent in his game.

9) Mark Sanchez- Although some many call him overrated Mark Sanchez has produced nothing but success for the New York Jets. He is the quarterback the Jets were looking for to build a franchise around. His rookie year he came into the league and took his team to an AFC championship game. He is the second QB in NFL history to lead his team to an AFC championship in his rookie year. Mark “Franchize” is the future of the Jets.

10) Cam Newton- Cam Newton is what the Panthers were looking for. The Panthers are hoping to turn Newton into their franchise. Newton was the headlines of the NFL coming into his first two games and throwing for over 400yds each game. Newton took the NFL by storm with his first two games. He has many expectations this season and many others look forward to the rest of this NFL season to see if Newton will be one of the elite players in the NFL.
